The Power of a Needle
Acupuncture is one part of the system of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). There are other modalities and practices that expand TCM, yet acupuncture is the most well-known of all.
Acupuncture has the ability to correct certain disorders with the placement of a few needles. Sometimes just one needle is all that is required. This is due to acupuncture’s incredible power. It may seem miraculous to some, but acupuncture has a foundation built upon thousands of years of empirical evidence.
The mind and body are in constant communication. The mind leads the body, manages the body, oversees the body. In some ways, the body is a manifestation of the mind. An imbalance in the body will affect the mind, and vice-versa.
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) understands the interconnection between body, mind, and spirit. Acupuncture is an ancient healing modality which uses needles to stimulate the body, and subsequently affect the mind and spirit. Because of this connection, acupuncture is not just applicable to physical problems, but is also very effective in treating mental and emotional disorders.
Restoring homeostasis mentally and physically is an essential part of the healing journey.
Healing the Addicted
Addictions come in many forms. One can be addicted to alcohol, drugs, food, sex, anything.
A powerful, natural treatment for addictions is acupuncture. Particularly, ear acupuncture using something called the NADA protocol.
NADA stands for National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. NADA is a group of 5 acupuncture points on the ear that are needled to aid in the treatment of many common drug addictions. In this protocol, usually both ears are needled. Depending on the patient’s needs, electrical stimulation may be used to further enhance the effect.
August Point Wellness can use NADA protocol alone as a treatment option. Ideally, we recommend that NADA protocol be used with a TCM program that includes TCM diagnosis, herbal formulas, regular body acupuncture, massage, and dietary modifications. Combine our program with a support group, counseling, etc. for better effect.
Treatments should be given a few times per week over a period of at least 2-3 months to see progress.
Building the Athlete Inside of You
Are you looking to help heal a chronic injury?
Would you like to maintain your body to prevent injury?
Do you desire more mental concentration in your sport?
Can you achieve better athletic performance?
Do you want to give yourself an advantage over other athletes in your field?
How about a drug-free, all-natural peformance boost?
The Chinese Olympic athletes all use acupuncture as a form of medical treatment to treat and help their athletes achieve and perform to their highest potential. It has only been recently that professional athletes in America are turning to alternative medicine, and they are reaping the benefits. (See link at bottom of page.)
Of course, you don’t need to be a professional athlete to benefit from acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Anyone can benefit.
Whether you are competitive professional or just a weekend warrior, you can benefit. If you participate in full-contact sports or no-contact sports, you can benefit.
Acupuncture can give you a competitive edge to your sport and help keep you injury free.
From Pre-Conception to Post-Partum
If you have been trying to conceive and have had problems, August Point Wellness may be able to help.
We understand that there are many factors influencing the ability for a woman to conceive. Internal factors (stress, age, hormone levels, physical abnormalities, etc.) and external factors (diet, exercise, relationships, chemical exposure, etc.) both play a large part in fertility.
Acupuncture is just one part of our Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) program that will help you create the fertile soil necessary to plant a seed.
August Point Wellness will help you assess your body and create a program for you to follow. This program will be customized with an herbal formula, dietary recommendations, acupuncture treatments, massage, and anything else that we may be able to offer.
We will work with your obstetrician/gynecologist towards your goals. We can also perform acupuncture in conjunction with in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments. Statistics show that acupuncture before and after IVF increases the chance of conception 20%.
After conception has taken place, August Point Wellness will use acupuncture to help you maintain stress levels, reduce morning sickness, reduce pregnancy-induced sciatica, and ease low back pain, naturally.
After the baby is born, we can also treat post-partum depression, fatigue, pain, and other issues that may arise. Knowing that some mothers want to avoid medications during breastfeeding, acupuncture is an excellent choice of treatment.
August Point will treat male infertility as well. We work with men to ensure that sperm count is high enough and there is sufficient viability. Men can also benefit from a TCM program designed especially for them.
